Após sairmos bem cedo de Pretoriuskop, seguimos rumo ao norte pela Mestel Dam Road (S7), planejando visitar o primeiro reservatório de água no Kruger, Mestel Dam. Estava chovendo, o que tornava ainda mais excitante o começo da manhã, enquanto seguíamos pela estrada de terra (as estradas são geralmente de grande qualidade. A maioria dos visitantes ficam nas estradas de asfalto e, com isso, perdem muita coisa). Vimos dois Elefantes Africanos (Loxodonta africana), furtivos, em meio à vegetação, que não conseguimos fotografar, na verdade, nem mesmo ver muito bem. Mas, em seguida, fomos agraciados com a visão de três Búfalos Africanos (Syncerus caffer). Fotografamos um deles (vejam abaixo), escondido em meio à vegetação, um verdadeiro "boi-da-cara-preta". O dia começava muito bem, com dois avistamentos maravilhosos, de duas espécies belas e poderosas de animais.
After we left Pretoriuskop very early, we followed to the north by the Mestel Dam Road (S7), planning to visit the first water reservoir in the Kruger, Mestel Dam. It was raining, what made even more exciting the beginning of the morning, while we followed through the gravel road (the roads are usually of excellent quality. Most visitors stay in the tar roads and miss too much with that). We saw two African Elephants (Loxodonta africana), stealthy, amidst the vegetation, which we did not manage to photograph, in fact not even see very well. But, next, we were pleased by the vision of three African Buffalos (Syncerus caffer). We photographed one of them (see below), hiding in the vegetation, a truly 'black face ox" (a Brazilian lullaby, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lullaby#Brazil). The day started very well, with two marvellous sightings, of two beautiful and powerful animal species.
